What do you do if you get hurt or sick while traveling? If you bought travel insurance, carry a copy in your suitcase so you can refer to the details. If you're covered by a health plan at work, check to see if travel is included, what's covered or not covered, and the exact procedures to follow if you get sick. Carry a copy of your insurance card and ask your doctor, hotel concierge or credit card concierge for a referral in the locations in which you're traveling. Most travel insurance will cover transportation to the nearest hospital -- not the best hospital for your condition -- and only a few travel policies will transport you to your home hospital. Read the fine print.
