It's a long, arduous drive to Mammoth Mountain in the winter, but skiers and snowboarders will be able to jet there this coming season -- provided they're first willing to make a trip to Los Angeles International Airport.

Horizon Air plans to offer daily nonstop service from LAX beginning Dec. 18. The service will be offered through April 12, 2009.

Flying time from LAX to Mammoth Yosemite Airport will be 1 hour, 5 minutes. The outbound flight will leave Los Angeles at 2:20 p.m., with a return flight offered at 4:05 p.m. www.alaskaair.com.
